Understanding D4211 Dental Code and Gingivectomy

What ADA CDT dental code is D4211?

D4211 is the ADA CDT dental code for the surgical removal of excess gums (i.e. gingival enlargements). This procedure, also known as a gingivectomy, is done to eliminate suprabony pockets, or to allow access for restorative dentistry when suprabony pockets are present. This code is for 1-3 contiguous teeth. The code description is officially “gingivectomy or gingivoplasty – one to three contiguous teeth or tooth bounded spaces per quadrant.”
