Understanding D4263 Dental Code and Bone Grafts

What ADA CDT dental code is D4263?

D4263 is the ADA CDT dental code for adding bone graft around a tooth for repair. It is a surgical procedure which uses osseous (bone) grafts or non-osseous grafts to stimulate periodontal regeneration when the disease process has led to a deformity of the supporting bone. It is for the first site in a quadrant. This differs from D7953 which is placing bone graft during an extraction. The code description is officially “bone replacement graft – retained natural tooth – first site in quadrant.”
